The official year got under way on May 11th when Reeve Tom Deline rolled out the first ball in bright sunshine.

We had 23 old & new members for the 10 end roll up, which was followed by a grand Pot Luck Supper.The annual Spring Meeting was the last event of the day.
In an effort to attract more and junior members to the club we are putting on 3 instructional classes for grade 6 & 7 of the local school, we have been very pleased with the way which most have taken to the game and hope that this investment will bear fruit in the future.

Congratulations to Pauline Hill who was a member of the winning Provincial Ladies Fours tournament on May 28th together with ladies from Belleville LBC, Iris Sager, Liz Horton & Marie Adams, We wish them every success in the next round of play in Brampton.
The Madoc team of Betty Tennant, Dennis Thompson and Brian Sexton won the silver medal at the Senior Games held in Belleville on June 1st. The win came after a dramatic one end tie breaker against Ray Roberts team from Trenton. The winners of the Gold Medal was the Belleville team of Marie Adams, John Sager and Don Adams.
Congratulations to Pauline Hill on winning the Ladies Singles District #15 Provincial tournament on Sunday July 2nd in Kingston. She will play in the area tournament held in Agincourt and we wish her luck.
We have submitted an application to Bowls Canada to win a set of Drakes bowls for membership increase.
Drakes Pride manufacturer has offered 10 sets of bowls in 1998,9 & 2000 and we hope our 27% increase will qualify us for a set.
Our Madoc team of David & Pauline Hill & Brian Sexton played in the Brighton 75th Anniversary tournament on July 12th and won 2nd 3 game hi spot.
This gave us the opportunity to think about how we will celebrate our 75th Anniversary in 2002.
Avril Sexton playing in her second tournament with Brian & won 1 game hi in Kingston on July 22nd, well done Avril.
We have won a set of Drakes Pride bowls for being the second highest club with a percentage increase in membership in the whole of Canada.This award is promoted by Bowls Canada and has resulted in a 14% increase in memberships by the clubs submitting entries for the competion.
This has been a 3 year campaign and this is the last year it will be awarded.
Congratulations to the 2 Madoc teams that made the final of the ladies novice triples, played at our club in August.
We have made serious repairs to level greens 1 and 8, we lifted the sod, laid the sand and then relaid the sod for both greens. A splendid effort to maintan some of the best playing surfaces in the district. Well done Gang.
During the AGM we decided to sell the old bowls which have been donated to the club and are unused, we also reintroduced the rule that players must provide their own bowls after 2 years of using the club bowls.
We played the last official game of the season on Sept 26th then a number of members cleaned the club house.
Congratulations to Pauline Hill who with Toronto Partner Helen Culley placed second in the United States Open Championship held in California in Oct.
This is the second time in 3 years that they have won this trophy.
Any ideas out there for this event???
Pauline Hill, Barb Howe of Campbellford and Betty Lalonde were victorious over Damaris Youmans, Betty Tennent and Loretta Bell in a marathon match which finished under lights.
The water systems will be shut off in Oct when the seniors have finished their card playing season.

On Sept 1st & 2nd 2001 we will be hosting the Ontario Mixed Triples Tournament, which means that the top 16 teams from across Ontario will be playing at our club.
